Folding designs

- [Narrator] Folding designs combine laser technology with the art of paper folding. Thin sheet materials, like paper, paper board and cardboard are well suited for folding designs. You can use this method for specialized packaging design, architectural models and pop up art. Folding designs work best with thinner materials like paper and paper board. You can program the laser to cut specific perforations in your flat sheet so that your part can be accurately manipulated after cutting. As projects grow in complexity, so grows the importance of annotations and engraved markings. Organizational systems like numbering or lettering parts can really help with assembly and part tracking. Laser cutting is a great choice for limited runs of prototype packaging. Explore how the sheet bends, folds, and handles grooves or cut outs.
