- [Instructor] Let's see how we can combine a gradient with transparency. As we've already seen, we need to create a clipping mask to apply a gradient to live type. So I'm going to draw myself a rectangle over my type, come to my colors. I'd like my gradient to go from white at the top of the letter shapes and then transition to zero opacity. I'll come to gradient and we'll have a linear gradient. I'll zoom out so that I can move that around. I'll choose my ending gradient stop. And then if I get my eyedropper and sample the background color. Now, in addition I am going to take the opacity all the way down. Okay, this is all right, but we can do better than this, but I'd now like to select that gradient and the type beneath it, and then come to my object panel and make that into a clipping mask.
