Kerning characters of type

- In this movie, I'll show you how to adjust the kerning between two neighboring characters of type. And I'll show you why this is a very important skill to learn. Alright, so to make things as clear as possible, I'll bring up the dedicated character panel so that it stays up on screen. And then notice this option right here, you can see that the word Kern is spelled K-E-R-N. Currently, it's set to optical, which means that illustrator is looking at every single character of type and deciding how to space that character with respect to its neighbor. And so I'm going to double-click here between the K and the N, in the word know, with my black arrow tool, in order to automatically switch to the type tool and position my blinking insertion marker between those two characters.
