- [Instructor] Let's start designing. The first item that I will design is a palm tree. And I will start by drawing one of its leaves. The pen tool, it's a great tool for this. Select the pen tool from the toolbar or press the letter P on your keyboard. The pen tool is one of the most powerful drawing tools in Adobe Illustrator. With it, you can create and edit anchor points and paths. The simplest path that you can draw with the pen tool, it's a straight line. Position the pen tool where you want the straight line segment to begin and click to define the first anchor point. The first segment you make will not be visible until you create a second anchor point. Place your cursor anywhere else in the canvas and then click again to create a second anchor point. And the first segment will appear in between the two anchor points. By continuing to click, you will create a path that is made of straight line segments connected by…
