This one looks like a white arrow with a plus sign and it's right here underneath the direct selection tool. This tool lets you quickly select items within groups or groups nested inside other groups. Notice in the layers panel how the upper body group contains a subgroup called shirt. Watch what happens when I click on the shirt with the group selection tool. The first click selects the one object that I clicked on. Then, when I click again, I select the group.
