Making guides from objects

- [Instructor] You can turn Illustrator objects into guides which is very useful because one, you don't have to stick to regular shapes, and two, you can set them up to be exactly the way you want on a layer and they are literally just on that layer associated with the area that you want to place them. So I have a layer here ready for my guides that also has the added benefit of it can be locked and the visibility changed just by using the layers panel. But let's draw a rectangle down at the bottom here. So this is a text region on this poster so I'm going to get my rectangle tool and I'm going to make sure that the other layers here are locked. Let me just lock the Colors Layer there so we don't have to see all of that stuff, and I'm just going to draw a rectangle like so across there. And then we're going to go up to the Objects menu, come all the way down to "Path," and then choose "Split into Grid." And what I want…
