Outline Stroke and Compound Path

- [Instructor] In this movie, we'll take what we've created so far and we'll turn it into this final gear artwork using a trio of commands that we haven't seen so far, namely outline stroke, pathfinder, and compound path. All right, so make sure your artwork is selected, as it is in my case, and then you want to turn those white dots into actual circles by going up to the object menu, choosing path, so you've got to drop about halfway down, and then we've got this command right here, outline stroke, which turns the stroke into a filled path outline. And because we have a bunch of round dots, Illustrator converts them all to circles. All right, now you want to go to the window menu and choose pathfinder. And what that's going to do is bring up the pathfinder panel right here, which is so incredibly useful that I devote an entire chapter to the topic in the advanced course.
