Radial repeat

- [Instructor] In the previous movie, I looked at a grid repeat. Here, I'm going to use a radial repeat and also take it a step further. My type is Mostra Nuova and this gives me this beautiful slender S. It's in a very art-deco style, which I think is going to work well with the radial repeat. So I'll come and choose my repeat options and then tap radial. Let's zoom out and start by just changing the size of that, and then repositioning it on the art board. I can increase the number of repetitions right here, just by dragging up. I can also do this on my properties panel. But it's more fun to actually interact with the artwork itself. I can also change the sweep, so that it doesn't necessarily need to go around a whole circle. And then if I come to the circle widget on the circle around which the repeat is taking place, I can literally make the characters dance. It's quite a wonderful thing. So now let's have a few more, let's increase its size. And now I'd like to take it one step further, and that is introduce some transparency effects as well. I'd like each of these letter shapes to blend with the other where they overlap. This won't work at the moment. If I come and change the blending mode, nothing changes. It won't work until I expand the repeat. Of course, once I expand it, there's no going back to those repeat options. So I need to make sure that this is the way I want it. And then come to the object panel and choose expand. In addition to expanding it. I also need to ungroup it, because what I now have is a group of objects. I'll come to my common tasks bar and click on ungroup. At this point I can come to my properties and change the blending mode from normal in this case to multiply. And that's the result that I'll get.
