Remove redundant points

In this movie, we'll see how to clean up unnecessary points in your Illustrator artwork, with the Super Smart Remove Points feature in VectorFirstAid. Having excess points on paths makes them harder and more time consuming to edit. So, it's well worth the effort to clean up your files. And with VectorFirstAid, you can usually do it with the click of a button. In our file here, we have some type that's been converted to outlines and a spoon that was created by applying Illustrator's Image Trace feature, to a Place > JPEG photo. And while this graphic looks pretty simple, it's actually composed of thousands of points. Most of them are totally not needed to make these shapes. If I open the Document Info Panel, by choosing Window > Document Info, and switch the panel display to Objects, and select everything by pressing Command or Control + A, I can see that there are 3,484 points in all in this file.
