Reset Preferences

- [Instructor] These days, we often forget that an application is essentially, really, really fast, rapid electrical impulses traveling around circuit boards, translated into ones and zeros translated into other things. And eventually, we end up with something like Illustrator in front of us. What could possibly go wrong with that particular formula? It would work with any app, any app crashes, or misbehaves from time to time. And quite often, the easiest thing to fix first is to reset the preferences, but that was never easy. You had to go shut down Illustrator, restart Illustrator holding down a couple of keys, I mean, not the hardest job in the world. But still, if you're new to applications, maybe just a bit disconcerting. And all of your keyboard shortcuts and some of the things that you've set up, suddenly disappear. Well, that last bit can't really be avoided, unless you create a backup of those first, but resetting them to get Illustrator back in line has been made a bit easier, because that's what so many people want. All you need to do to do that is to go to the Illustrator menu on a Mac, be the Edit menu on a PC and go down and find your preferences. Okay, and if you go to the general category, you'll see that a nice handy button has been added just down at the bottom here. It has said reset or warning dialogues for ages, but now it's joined, so it's no longer lonely that particular button by reset preferences. Do that and it was sorted out and hopefully when you get back Illustrator will be working perfectly but only do that if Illustrator's misbehaving quite badly.
