Simplifying path outlines

- [Lecturer] Now, despite your best efforts, you may find that you occasionally end up with choppy paths with too many anchor points. In which case illustrator offers still more smoothing technology in the form of the simplifying command. And so I'll start things off by switching back to the black arrows selection tool up here at the top of the toolbox. And then I'll click on the outline of the eye that I drew with the pencil tool. You don't want to select that hole that you drew with the eraser. Instead you want the pencil tool to path outline. All right, now when the bounding box is turned on, as we're seeing right here, we can't see the anchor points, at least not when the black arrow tool's active. So what I recommend you do is go up to the view menu and choose the hide bounding box command, which will hide the rectangular bounding box and allow us to see the anchor points and the smooth segments.
