Smooth points and cusps

- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to draw smooth points and cusps. Once again using the pen tool. And so I'll go ahead and select the pen tool, and then let's say that you just want to draw a free-form oval. Well then you just need to decide what direction you're going to draw it in, whether it's counter clockwise or clockwise, and you just need to stick to your guns. And so notice that my cursor has a little asterisk next to it, which indicates that I'm going to draw a new path outline, and so instead of clicking with the tool, I'll go ahead and drag with the tool like so. And what that does is it creates a smooth point at the point at which you begin the drag and then it draws forth two control handles, one that's under your cursor, and one moving in the opposite direction. And what that does is it ensures a smooth transition going through that anchor point, which is why this is known as a smooth point.…
