Spot colors
- [Instructor] Spot colors are usually and most often manufacturer-defined and manufactured inks. They're actually a special ink that exceeds quite often what CMYK and some other processes can achieve. But they are expensive because when you run them through a print unit, normally in addition to the CMYK colors, then they're going to cost extra because the machine has to be completely cleaned before use, then used with lots of paper going through it to clean it up and then it has to be reloaded with ink and then the job run and then cleaned down again afterwards. That's how it happens. Clean, use, clean, that's the way it works. That said though, to have a color that is standing out from all of the other colors has value and so a lot of people do use inks like that in addition to processed colors but also, they do jobs that are in single colors as well.
