- [Instructor] Symbols are very efficient in Illustrator because you can create one symbol and then add several instances of the symbol to your artwork. All of those instances continue to reference the symbol itself, which makes for easy updating. Now, I'm gonna zoom in on the right side of my art board where I have two pieces of art that I've created here, and I've also opened up my Symbols panel by choosing Window, Symbols to display that panel. Now, creating a symbol is really quite simple. One way we can do this is by selecting a piece of art and then I'm just going to drag this and drop it on to the Symbols panel. Now, I'm gonna call this one Key Points and the export type isn't gonna really come into play unless you're outputting this symbol where you're gonna take it into Adobe Animate or something of that nature, but for basic graphics, the export type doesn't really make too much of a difference.
