Type size and leading

- [Illustrator] In this movie, we'll talk about type-size and leading. Now, type-size is fairly self-evident. It's the size of the type as measured from the bottom of the lowest possible descender, like the bottom of this lowercase Y, to the top of the highest possible ascender, such as the tips of these lowercase Ls. However, you don't want to take it too literally because it could be much more than that, it's really up to the font designer. Whereas leading would just this guy right here. And if I hover over it, it looks like the tips says, "Set the leading," but it's actually pronounced leading. For the lead that used to separate lines of hot metal type, some people call it interstitial line spacing. I like leading better 'cause it's named after lead.
