Understanding compound shapes

- [Instructor] Now that we've used the pathfinder for the first time, it's time to learn how to use it in a nondestructive way. Here inside of Adobe Illustrator I have a very simple document open and I have multiple shapes here, one on top of the other. Now, if I were to ignore these lines here in the center of this icon or these shapes, at least, then I would be left with a perfect outline of a cloud. And that's exactly what I'm aiming for here. I'm looking to create a cloud icon. Now, traditionally, if I were to select everything and then use the pathfinder to click the first icon here to merge everything together, I would be left with this and this is perfect. I'm super happy with this, but the problem is what if I would like to go back and edit the shape of this cloud? I actually had a lot of control when I still had access to the original circles and the original rectangle here at the bottom. But now I seem to have lost…
