Use symbol registration points
- [Instructor] The last option for a symbol stippling that I want to show you is the registration point. When you create a symbol in Illustrator, you define a registration point. And this can be used to orient and position the stipple objects. Let's select this small oval and make it into a symbol. We'll go to the symbols panel, click new symbol. And we'll call it Oval. For export type, we'll choose graphic and leave it as a dynamic symbol. And notice here, registration. Here you can click any of the nine boxes to set the registration point. It's centered by default but let's choose the top middle. Click on that. And then click okay. Our symbol is created. We can delete the original oval. Close the symbol panel. Select the big oval. And now let's apply a symbol stipple effect. We'll turn on preview in the dialogue box. Make sure that the symbol we're using is our oval. And let's increase the density way up to…
