Using the Shape Builder tool

- In this movie I'll show you how to work with the shape builder tool which allows you to take basic shapes and turn them into more complex ones. So consider the outside of this sign right here. I'll go ahead and click on it with my black arrow tool and then I'll go up to the view menu and choose hide bounding box in order to hide the bounding box and show the anchor points. And if you take a close look, you can see that this is a hand drawn shape created with the pen tool which is one of the most capable tools inside of Illustrator, because it allows you to draw any shape that you like, one point at a time. And I will be showing you how it works in a future chapter, but for now, I want you to notice what happens if you don't use the tool properly. You end up getting asymmetrical results. And so notice over here we've got an anchor point and then we have a point at this location so each one of the squares as a point.…
