Using blending modes

- [Instructor] Unless all you ever plan to do is to draw things with straightforward, flat color, you are going to find it difficult to avoid the topic of blending. Now there are plenty of other places where blending is discussed at some length, but here we're just going to look at the essentials. So the first component of blending is opacity. If you change the opacity of something, it will blend differently with any content beneath it. So here on this scooter, if I click on any one of these black shapes, I've grouped them together like so, then I can change the opacity. Now I can do that here in the properties panel, or here in the control strip at the top, whichever suits. And in fact, I can also do it inside of the appearance panel, but we'll make it actually work from the properties panel and just drop this down to about, I don't know, 30%, maybe something a bit less than that, 20ish is just great.
