Using guides and grids

you need to know about using grids and guides for the Illustrator ACA exam. We'll start with guides. To create a guide, I'll make sure that rulers are showing and if they're not, you can use the Properties panel when nothing is selected. And I can drag from either ruler to create a guide. It doesn't matter what tool you currently have, dragging from a ruler will always create a guide. Holding the Shift key as you drag will make the guide snap to ruler units. Note that guides are created on the current layer that you're working on so you can have separate sets of guides on each layer and those guides will be shown or hidden when you show or hide each layer. To remove a guide just select it by clicking or dragging on it with the Move tool and press Delete or Backspace.
