The Width tool
- [Narrator] The width tool is one of the more powerful tools in Illustrator, and it allows you to create elegant, organic shapes from the single path. Now, in this document that I have open, you'll notice that I have several paths that I've created on here, and they're all of a single, uniform width. And what we're gonna do is we're gonna use the width tool to modify that. So I'm gonna zoom in down here on the California text, and actually mainly over here to the left of it. And I'm gonna select this path that is located there. Now, the width tool is this guy right here. And the way that this works is, you basically click on a point on the path and drag perpendicular to it. And that will allow you to vary the width of the path at that location. And so you'll notice now that the endpoints have remained whatever the stroke value was, but it's gotten wider in the middle here.
