The benefit of brushes

- [Instructor] In this movie, we're going to talk about Illustrator brushes. Brushes are a great way to add things like stitches, zippers, lace, trims, and any other thing that's a consistent repeat of an object. Let me show you how this works. We're going to go up to the Window dropdown and select Brushes. And this opens the Brushes panel. As you can see, I've already made a bunch of brushes, and we're going to cover these in the next few videos. To apply a brush, all you need to do is select a path and click on the brush. Simple as that. There are five different types of brushes in Illustrator. If we click on the icon for New Brush, you'll see there is a calligraphic brush, a scatter brush, an art brush, a bristle brush, and a pattern brush. We're going to focus on the pattern brush because that's the one we use most often for fashion. So, let's cancel this out and make a basic brush. I'm going to take the Ellipse Tool and go ahead and draw a little circle. And we'll hit D for…
