Add ALT tags to images and objects
- [Instructor] Another task that you have to do with your images in an eBook is to apply ALT tags to them. An ALT tag is an html tag. It stands for alternate text and it is a description of what is happening in an image. It is a feature for accessibility. People who are using screen readers, the screen reader will read the content, but when it comes to the image, what is it supposed to say? It normally just says image, or sometimes it will say like the file name of the image, so it would say model, blah blah, one two three four, and that doesn't help. It's a requirement for ePub3 eBooks to have ALT tags supplied to every image that describes what's in there. And I'm gonna show you how to do that manually and with a script in this video. Now I have already exported a portion of this document to ePub to show you that inDesign actually does export ALT tags, it's just that they're empty.
