- [Instructor] Of all the valuable keyboard shortcuts you can learn, I'd argue that adjusting text properties has to rank among the highest. After all, the majority of formatting done in InDesign is usually to text. So let's walk through a few of the more valuable text formatting shortcuts to know. Now I'm going to go ahead and switch over to my type tool and I'm just going to click inside of the text on this page. Now something very basic is you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate through your text. You can go left to right, up to down, whichever direction you want. What a lot of people are unaware of is that if you add the command or control key to those arrow keys, it'll jump one word at a time. And that allows you to navigate through your text a lot more quickly. Now adding the shift key to that, so shift command or shift control and the arrow keys will highlight one word at a time.
