Creating and applying character styles
- [Instructor] Unlike paragraph styles that format entire paragraphs, character styles can format an isolated area of text within the paragraph. Using the Type tool, select the text Exhibit followed by the colon after it. In the Properties panel, choose bold from the font face dropdown menu to format the text accordingly. Click on the Character Styles button at the top of the Properties panel. Then, choose Manage Styles from the Character Styles dropdown. This displays the Character Styles panel. With the text still selected, hold down the Alt or Option key as you click on the Create New Style button at the bottom of the Character Styles panel. For the name of the style, type Bold and make sure that Apply Style to Selection is enabled. The reason you're only seeing the bold property is because the paragraph style apply to the same text is controlling the rest of the formatting. Click OK to apply the bold character…
