Creating gradients

- [Instructor] One way to add a little bit of visual interest to your layouts is to use gradients. Gradients are just transitions between colors, so let's see how you make a gradient. Select the large gray rectangle in the background. Go to the Swatches panel and click the little arrow to the left of Color Group 1. You can see it's using this sort of dark gray swatch, but we're going to create a gradient to replace that with. In the Swatches panel, go to the upper right hand corner to the panel menu, click that, and choose New Gradient Swatch. We'll just call it "blue gradient" for now. That'll be the theme of it. There are two different kinds of gradients. There are Linear gradients, and if you click the pulldown you can the other, the Radial gradient. We're going to start with Linear. You see at the bottom where it says Gradient Ramp, and this is a really simple gradient that goes from paper to black, from white to black.
