- [Instructor] One way to streamline applying styles to text in InDesign is to assign keyboard shortcuts to styles so you can apply them quickly and easily. InDesign 2020 adds an improvement to make this process even easier. Let's go in and take a look. Now I am beginning this video with this spread open on my computer and the first part of the text up here at the top I've purposely unformatted just to give us something that we can apply styles to just to see how this works. Now I'm going to start over here by going to my paragraph styles panel. And the shortcuts, by the way, work in your character styles, object styles, so on and so forth. But I'm going to start with this main headline blue and I'm going to assign a shortcut to it. So I'm going to start by right-clicking on it and choosing edit main headline blue.
