Custom page numbering tricks

- [Instructor] You probably already know how to make automatic page numbers in InDesign. You just go to the Type menu, come down to Insert Special Character, then choose the Markers submenu, and finally choose Current Page Number. And normally you'd put that on a Master page. But sometimes you need something different. Like maybe you want to number every spread instead of every page. Or like in this document, I want to number all of the document pages, but I want to skip over this pink section opener. I want the numbers to simply skip right past it. Now InDesign's current page number feature is awesome, but it's not very flexible. You can't skip over pages, for example. So in situations like this I'll often use a different kind of numbering, paragraph numbering. Here's how it works.
