Interface changes

- [Instructor] Okay, as far as interface changes and tweaks are concerned, if you were previously using InDesign 2020 and you carefully kept up with all updates, large and small, that the Adobe team has released since 2020 was first released, then you're not going to see anything different really at all in the interface. But for those of you who are coming from a previous version or maybe you are using 2020 but you did not update in the major update that was released in June to what's called 15.1, you're still using 15.0 something of InDesign, then you will see something new here. And that new thing is the share widget, which replaces the button that said publish online. Publish online is still available in InDesign, but it's just been replaced and it's now part of a collection of features that allow the user to collect and share something from their InDesign file with other people. Kind of a way of organizing. So, for example, you might want to export a PDF, and so there's a quick export as PDF that if you tap it, it lets you do these PDF exports. There are the built-in PDF exports. Why they chose these three, I don't know. Why PDF X4 is not there, that's the one I use all the time, I don't know. And there's no way to edit them. So, but essentially it's the exact same thing as going to the File menu and going down to Adobe PDF Presets and exporting them from here. The other things that you might want to share, let's tap that back arrow to go back, is package, if you want to collect the entire file for handoff to a freelancer or to a commercial printer, you choose package share, which brings you to the exact same dialog box as you would get if you went to file package in the main menu. Then there's this new feature called share for review, which I'll devote a whole chapter to in this title, that lets you collect what's necessary to post via Adobe's cloud server an accessible way for your clients to review this online in the web browser without you having to export to PDF or collect their comments. It's kind of neat. And I'll be talking about that in detail. And here's our friend publish online, and finally, export, the same as choosing file export. So publish online is definitely still part of InDesign 2021. You can see under the file menu, you can still go to publish online. They've added share for review. And then also supporting share for review is the place where you as the InDesign user collect the comments that your clients are leaving to the browser-based version of this file, and that has been moved to a new fly-out menu in the Window menu. So if you were a fan of the PDF comments panel, you may be surprised to see, well, no, what happened to that? That was a way for you to collect comments from a PDF right in the layout. That's still here, but it is now in its own category under comments. So here you'll see PDF comments, and the one that goes with share for review is review. So this is the panel that opens up. It's way down here. If you have shared a review. Why they couldn't put them into the same menu somehow, I don't know, but that is also a new interface that you'll find. Even though there are really no new interface elements if you've been keeping up with 2020 updates, it's kind of refreshing to know I don't have to learn a new way around the program. Everything should seem pretty familiar.
