- [Instructor] Data merge is one of InDesign's most powerful features, but it's also one of its least used, which is too bad because it's actually very simple. I mean, sure, it can get complicated. I did a whole course on it here in the online training library, but you can get the basics, enough to do some cool stuff with it really quickly. Let's see how it works. First, I'm going to switch over to Excel. You can see that I have a spreadsheet here, and this could be Google Sheets or a database, or anything that can hold data, but you can see that here in Excel, we have a first name, a last name, a description, and then an image over here. The field at the top is called @image, and the at symbol just tells InDesign that this column is for pictures or graphics, and I don't know if you can see this well, but here in Excel, we actually have to type a single quote first, because otherwise Excel gets confused, so quote,…
