- [Instructor] This is a roundup of some other grid related tools and preferences that haven't really featured until now, but all of which play a supporting role when designing with grids in InDesign. Firstly, the guides and pasteboard preferences. Preferences, guides and pasteboard. You'll find this under the edit menu if you're a Windows user and we can change the color of our guides, we can change the snap to zone. This determines how close an object needs to be in order to snap to a grid line. We can also change our smart guide options. Rarely do I need to do this. I may occasionally turn my smart guides off, but when they're turned on, I just have them use these options. Let's just come and have a look at those options under the view menu, grids and guides, so snap to guides is turned on and that's working in conjunction with the snap to zone and smart guides are also currently turned on.
