Placing the text

- [Instructor] Having set up the brochure document, the next step is to place the text. The text has been created in Word, and this is what it looks like in Word. There is no need to open it in Word. We're going to be placing it into InDesign. At this stage, I don't care what it looks like. My objective here is just to make sure we get it on the page and that we chop up the text file and make sure that the right segment is on the appropriate panel. And for this, I'm referring to the sketch that I made on paper, just indicating what bit of text goes where. I'll press Command or Control + D to go to File and Place. And then come to the Text folder, and open the text file. I'm warned about missing fonts. Like I said, at this point, I don't care. I'm on page one, which is my inside spread, and I'm going to click and drag just to place my story over those first two panels. We see the pink highlighting, indicating a missing font. I'm going to ignore it for now. I'm going to cut this text, the first two lines, including the extra space after that, and then move to the second spread and the last panel, which will actually be the cover. I will click and drag and paste that text there. Now let's come back here, and I'll move this story over. We want this first walk to be cut from there and to be pasted where it was originally, right there, Command or Control + V. And then we have this one River Walk, which moves over to the next spread. Now, I can use a key combination to select from the point of my cursor to the end of my story, or I can press Command or Control + Y to see the overset text in the Story Editor. And that's what I'm going to do. And I'm going to select that text, cut it. We'll click back into the layout. I'll move to the second page. I'm using a keyboard shortcut to do that, which is Option or Alt and the down arrow. And then click and drag. Command or Control + V to paste that text there, returning back here. Once again, visit the Story Editor. This informational blurb, I'm going to cut from there, Command or Control + W, which will close my Story Editor window. Now back to the second spread, and this text goes in this panel, which will end up being the back cover.
