Understanding screen modes
- [Instructor] Screen modes control the view of a document within Adobe InDesign. The Screen Mode button is located down here at the bottom of the Tools panel, but can also be accessed by going to the View menu under Screen Mode and choosing the option here. The default screen mode in InDesign is normal, which shows non-printing elements such as frame edges, hidden characters, and guides. Preview mode is useful for viewing only what prints in a document and hides all of those non-printing elements. Bleed mode is useful for showing the non-printing elements as well as any defined bleed area in the document. Slug mode shows only what prints and the slug area if it's defined in the document, as you can see down here at the bottom of the page. Finally, presentation mode is great for presenting artwork to clients as it hides the InDesign interface. Press the Escape key on your keyboard to exit presentation mode.
