Using a section marker as a header

- [Instructor] There are several ways to make running heads that reflect the content of your book or long document. Like up here, the top of this page, I want this to show what section we're in. One way you can do this is with text variables. These can look for text on your pages, like maybe you want a chapter title to automatically appear up here. Now, text variables are a feature we talk about in another InDesign secrets video, but sometimes, the text you want in the running header doesn't appear on your page anywhere. For example, let's say this chapter is part of a longer section with a different name. In that case, you can use the section marker character. Let me show you how. First, I'm going to jump to the master page that we're using by double-clicking on it inside the pages panel. You can see that I have an empty text frame here and I'm going to double-click on it with a selection tool to switch to the type tool…
