Application options: Model generation

- [Narrator] Another key component that affects performance and your visual display of your 3D model in Infraworks is the model generation. So if we go into our Application Option and then select the model generation section, here we have several settings that actually control some of the visual performance of your model. The first one is a Generator Threads. This what actually does is provide more threads from your CPU for generating your model. As I hover over this section, it tells me number of CPU threads to use during a 3D model generation. Changes requires application restart. Okay. Here I've actually set my settings to 99 but I've not restarted my actual drawing or the actual application. Now the Building Facade Details, this does have a major effect on your model for your buildings. So for example, if I have this set on Low or No Facades, if I hit OK, I'm going to come back here and say regenerate. As you can see I have no facades for our building. Now let's go back to our low settings, so I've modified generation low. Hit OK. This'll actually bring back the facades but at a very low detail. I'm going to regen my drawing. Back to settings and regenerate. As you can see our building, our facade is kind of faded bad. It doesn't have that rich, textured feel to it. Another thing is that when you have the resolution set to low within the model generator you cannot change the facade on each side of the building. You can only apply one facade to all the buildings sides. Now if I go back and set this to Medium and hit OK. You'll get a better rich, tone once I regen the drawing. You'll notice a slightly better resolution quality for the building facade. Now let's go ahead and set it to High. Okay. And regen. We're at the highest resolution so here I can actually change the facade on each building face. So let's go look at the other settings. So Facade Atlas Limit, what that means is when I'm zooming in and zooming out, at some point after 200 feet it's actually applying color not texture to the building. So at this point here it's just applying a color to the building facade or coverage areas, not a texture. Now once I zoom in then you start seeing the texture being applied. So this is the limit right here telling you at what point is it going from texture to an actual color. Terrain Specification, okay, so that is controlling, it's basically simplifying the mesh that represents your terrain. So let's go look at that. Right now it is set to zero. Okay so it's using the highest value for your terrain mesh.
