- [Instructor] The profile optimization tool is another powerful analysis tools that designers can take advantage of, when working with roads and highways. Here we're going to actually look at our component road and analyze our road to balance a cut, fill calculations in artwork and materials. When I click on the component roads then go into my roads and designs and then click on Profile Optimization, within the dialogue box at the very top you can assign a design speed for your road so that say it's a 30 miles per hour road. I'm going to select Road so I want to analyze the road. Now, at the bottom I actually going to expand this Advanced Setting, I'm going to select the maximum grade for this road so I'm going to say the maximum grade is going to 6%, the minimum PVI spacing will be 90 feet you can top in a larger number, if you'd like may be 100.
