- [Announcer] Site distance analysis does exactly what it says on the tin. It helps to identify blind spots or site failure zones, which is just a fancy way of saying there's something blocking your view of the road ahead. Before we get started, we're still in our InfraWorks 2021 road design model. Head over to bookmark number eight, Site Distance Analysis A. And you don't have to do anything for this particular video. Just follow along with me. We have a component road in front of us, and I'm going to select it. If we head over to analyze on the analyzed panel, transportation site distance, the site distance analysis panel will show up. Now I've already analyzed this particular road, and here are the results. So we can see, at the bottom right of your canvas, we have sight-clear zones, site-failure zones, and obstruction zones. And you can switch these on and off with your visual options on the site distance panel. The options you have include site zones, accident zones, site envelopes, and then on the pin side, so those are on the road on the pin. So let's just zoom over and have a look at where I put a pin, which is here. We have site regions, sight lines, and distance lines. These are the things that we're going to look at. But before we go on, let's have a look at the analysis properties as well. On the panel, we have our selected road, which is Southwest Fairmont Boulevard. And we have the road analysis properties. So you can see that we have two methods, if we choose the little drop down. We have the stopping sight distance, which is the minimum distance a driver needs in order to stop before colliding with something in front of them, and passing sight distance, which is the minimum site distance required to allow a driver to overtake without smashing into something in the opposing lane. Those are the two things that we can look at when working with component roads within InfraWorks. So let's get started. Hit escape to deselect the road and close the site distance panel. Head back over to our bookmark number eight, and let's do some sight distance analysis of our own.
