Traffic simulation: Where to get data

- [Narrator] Many local governments and state authorities do local traffic counts, whether it's by a camera or just having a bunch of interns standing around at various junctions with clipboards and counting cars. Then they may publish it online or you'll probably be able to get it through a Freedom of Information request. It all depends on the type of project that you're working on. The model we're in the moment is in Portland in Oregon. And Portland has an RGS Online map that shows their traffic counts. I find this simply by doing a Google search for Traffic Counts, Portland, Oregon, Transportation, whatever filters you could think of here, and it took me to the Portland Bureau of Transportation map, and I got an interactive map of Portland. You could use the search bar to find an address or place but I know more or less where we are because I know its got this very distinctive grid of streets over here. So basically…
