Working with the InfraWorks 2015.3 update

- On December 19, 2014, Autodesk posted an update to InfraWorks, the 2015.3 version. If you've installed this version, or if you think you've installed this version, you should watch this video to learn about important changes that you'll need to understand before watching the videos ahead. So first off, how do you know if you've installed the 2015.3 version? Well, the answer's actually right in front of you. The newly-designed home page has replaced the old start page. The new home page has a blue background and very large icons representing the models. The old start page has a gray background and much smaller icons representing the models. One thing you're gonna definitely need to know how to do is how to open a model by browsing to it. And the key to that is knowing that you have to click the white plus sign to expand it. Now when you first encounter InfraWorks, you're going to see the white plus sign as it is right now. You'll need to click it, find the open command beneath it, and then simply browse to your files as you've done in the past, or as the other videos instruct you to do. Another thing you'll need to know about is that InfraWorks is going to prompt you to upgrade your models because they were created in an older version of InfraWorks. Luckily, this is really easy to do. You just simply click the Upgrade button, and InfraWorks will take care of the rest. Once it's finished processing the update, the model will open just like any other model in InfraWorks. I'll click the Home icon to go back to the home page, and this'll give me a chance to show you another feature. You'll notice in the top left corner, there is this Go back to, whatever the model name happens to be, and if I click that, it'll toggle back to my model. And you can see that it's been kept open in the background. This lets me switch back and forth between the home view and the model view with no wait whatsoever. Another thing that is important to know about this new home page is the filtering ability. The way that you get to models in certain groups, or local models versus cloud models, is by leveraging the filters that are available. To see the filters, you click the little white triangle, and you'll see on the left side, you've got recently used, local and cloud as filters. On the right side you've got groups that may exist that you've been invited to for sharing models in the cloud through InfraWorks 360. You can combine as many of these filters as you like, and the results will be displayed on the home page. Another thing you'll need to know how to do is launch Model Builder. And again, the key is to expand the white plus sign. The Model Builder command is hidden beneath the expanded view of the white plus sign. You can click the Model Builder command, and the window will open, and it will function just like it has in the older release, and just as it's instructed to you in the videos that follow. Now make sure you watch the other videos having to do with the topics that I've discussed here. The start page, now called the home page, as I've mentioned. Working with the dataset files, and anything having to do with Model Builder. Because even though some of the things have changed in this new 2015.3 release, not all of them have. So to get all of the information, you need to watch this video as well as the other videos pertaining to those topics. OK, now that you've seen the important parts of what's new and different in the latest InfraWorks update, you're ready to continue with the course.
