Working with the exercise files

- [Instructor] This course comes with a number of exercise files in a zipped format. To avoid model corruption errors, that may occur with windows compression, they are in a seven zip format. So for this course, it's called Infraworks2021_Road_Design.7z, or seven z if you're on the other side of the Atlantic. Now to unzip this, you will need 7-Zip, which is available for free from 7-zip.org. All you have to do is install that and then right click on the 7Z file, and extract it to a local folder. I recommend doing what I've done and just putting it on your desktop. Don't try to unzip it to a network folder, because long path names may throw up errors and give you a model corruption error. So, just keep the pathways as short as possible. So for this course, we're working with InfraWorks 2021 Road Design and then there's two models, InfraWorks 2021 Road Design and InfraWorks 2021 Road Design Corridors. There's also an IMX file, that shows your avoidance zones, that we'll use within the course. This course was recorded in August of 2020. When the latest version of InfraWorks was in 2021.0. So you may be taking this course in March, 2021, or even March, 2022. And as such, we'll be working on a later version of InfraWorks. So to avoid confusion, the earliest version of InfraWorks you can use with these exercise files is InfraWorks 2021.0. If you are using a newer version, what you can do, is you can simply open and update the model. So from the home screen, just go to your InfraWorks folders, select the model you need, click open and upgrade from there and you'll be good to go.
