- [Instructor] Advertising on Instagram is a great way to reach a wider audience than you normally would by posting regular photos and videos. Instagram allows companies to advertise by uploading promoted posts. These are posts that will be shown in users' feeds, even if they're not following you on Instagram. This can be a good way for companies of any size to increase the awareness of their products and services. You can start a promoted post campaign for as little as $1 per day. Businesses can advertise on Instagram in the exact same way that they advertise on Facebook. As you may know, Instagram is owned by Facebook, and they've combined the system that both platforms use for advertising. It's called Facebook Ads Manager. In fact, you can run the exact same promotional campaign on Facebook and Instagram simultaneously. There's a lot of information about Instagram advertising on the Instagram website, at business.instagram.com/advertising. So let's take a look. Okay, so here we are on instagram.com, and as we scroll down the page here, Instagram lets us know the different ways that we can advertise. So you can advertise in Instagram Stories, which, if you're familiar with Instagram, those are those Stories that show up that only last for 24 hours. Just keep in mind that if you advertise in Stories, you need to have a creative that's in portrait orientation so that it looks well on devices when they're being held in that orientation. If you're advertising in just the regular photos or videos, you can make them square or even wide-angle if you'd like. So if we scroll down, we can see some of the other ways that we can advertise. So you can advertise in just regular photos. So this was the original way that you could advertise on Instagram. It just shows up in people's feed, just as a single photo. We scroll down, you'll notice, we can also do video ads. So, same idea, but with video, so that's a nice addition to advertising here on Instagram. We can also do carousel ads. So this is very similar to just a normal photo, but all of these carousel ads contain multiple photos, so actually, this is a little video, and it shows somebody scrolling through the carousel ads, so you can see that if you're selling products and you have multiple products of the same type, so in this example, we have different shoes, it's a great way to feature multiple products so that maybe you can find one that the user really likes best. All right, let's keep scrolling down here. So Instagram also now features Collections, which are essentially the Instagram storefronts. It's not necessarily a form of advertising, so I think it's a little odd that they have it on this page, but it certainly is a form of marketing that we've talked about in this course. So if you are a larger organization and you go through the whole approval process for storefronts, you can convert customers right on Instagram nowadays by having an Instagram Collection, or a storefront. And you can also advertise in the Explore section of Instagram. So this is the area of Instagram that people are looking to discover new people to follow and new content. So that's a nice way to capture people who are actually looking for something new, right? Instead of just going through their feed, and they want to see that the people they follow, and then all of a sudden an ad pops up and they're like, "Well, what is this?" Well, if they're on the Explore page, you know that they're looking for something new, so that's a great place to give them something new to look at. So if you're looking for more information on how to actually set up an advertising campaign using Facebook Ads Manager, you may want to take a look at my course called Instagram Advertising that's available on this site, as well as the course Facebook Marketing, also available on this site, which will give you a more technical view at how you can actually implement an Instagram advertising campaign.
