- So all of the examples that we've seen so far of potential applications of data science lead us to a very important point. Now, before I get to exactly what that point is, I want to ask all of you a series of questions. So how many of you have a rewards card with a supermarket or retail store? Right, a card that you put in the number and you get some sort of discount off of whatever it is you're buying, or you collect reward points or something like that. How many of you have a Facebook account? How many of you use Google Maps? How many of you get discounted medical insurance premiums in exchange for access to medical data? This actually seems to be a fairly common practice in the medical insurance industry, by the way. And lastly, how many of you have some sort of snapshot car sensor from your car insurance company?
