From the course: Crowdfunding Campaigns for Independent Film

My crowdfunding campaigns

- So far along with my fellow producers, I've run three crowdfunding campaigns that I'll be mentioning throughout this course. My first campaign was a Kickstarter for the 20 minute pilot of the fantasy web series, The Broken Continent. The Broken Continent was an ambitious project that featured 65 actors, sword fighting, and extensive costuming. Key to the success of the campaign was the amazing marketing visuals we were able to put together. And the enthusiasm of the target audience. The 30-day campaign rose close to 43,000 dollars. The second campaign, also for The Broken Continent, was for post-production and special effects costs as well as film festival fees. This campaign was also conducted through Kickstarter about six months after the first. That 30-day campaign raised an additional 11,000 dollars. My third campaign was for the dramedy feature film I edited and directed, Of Dice and Men. The film was based on a critically acclaimed play about tabletop role-playing gamers and had a much smaller cast of six. However, almost one-third of the film involved green screen effects. We decided to run the campaign through the Indiegogo platform, since it offered a keep it all method of crowdfunding, which I'll explain in detail later in this course. We were able to raise close to 14,000 dollars in 30 days. Feel free to view each of these campaigns on their respective platforms just by searching for the title on the Kickstarter or Indiegogo websites.
