- Now that you've prepared a detailed film budget, you're a lot closer to determining your crowdfunding campaign goal amount. Here's a few other considerations to keep in mind. Do your research. While planning your campaign, you should have searched for successful independent film campaigns that are similar to yours in genre and subject on your chosen platform. Pay attention to what amounts they were able to get. Be realistic and according to your budget. Remember that most successful independent film campaigns average an amount between $1,000 and $9,000. That doesn't mean you can't go for more, and you don't want to low-ball your amount in hopes that you'll exceed it to get what you really want. Simply ask for the amount you need to make your film, or what you need to supplement other financial resources according to the budget you've laid out. Consider what percentages platforms take.
