Automation
- Next, I'm gonna show you how to automate parameters in Kontakt. Now, I'm using Ableton Live 9, so this will only apply to my setup, here. But Kontakt can be automated in any DAW. If you're not familiar with how automation works in your own DAW, then be sure to refer to the manual, or watch the essential training course for your DAW here on lynda.com. The setup in Kontakt will still be the same no matter which DAW you're using. First thing we'll do is load an instrument. I'm just gonna drag our pad sample in here for simplicity's sake. Okay, let's open the editor. Now, I'm gonna click on the "auto" tab here on the left. You'll see that a list of host parameter number come up, which are all currently unassigned. Let's say we wanted to automate the "tune" knob, here. All we have to do is click on a slot in the list and we'll drag it over to the "tune" knob. Now you can see that parameter inserted on the first slot. Let's add a low-pass filter to our group effects, and then we'll assign…
