Understanding instrument interfaces and the Instrument Header
- Let's dig into instruments. The first thing to point out is that not all instruments are alike. In fact, most of the KONTAKT instruments all have different interfaces. This is for a few reasons. The first is that a wide variety of authors designed them differently, and they each have a different idea about what their instruments should look like aesthetically. Another reason is that most instruments need to have certain kinds of controls in order to play them more naturally. For instance, if I load a guitar, you'll see this come up. This instrument has controls that are relevant to how a guitar is played. But now if I load up a string ensemble, you'll see that it's totally different, and has controls that are relevant to how strings are played. That being said, once you look under the hood, the engine still works the same. Also, every instrument has the same instrument header at the top. Let's start with that.
