Better meetings
- Meetings are not for giving updates. Really, they shouldn't be about anything that, A, could be delivered through another medium, or, B, doesn't warrant a discussion that requires every person in the room. Meetings should be about alignment and decisions that require the active participation of every person in the room. This comes in two forms: topics that affect everyone, like personnel decisions; and situations where one person is stuck and is looking to leverage the problem-solving capability of the full team. Not only are these appropriate tasks for meetings, but working collectively like this builds an extremely tight team or working group. It's rare and precious time that you and your team have together. Please don't waste it on a laundry list of updates that they can read or get through video.
