How to let an employee go
- When it's time to let an employee go, it can generate a significant amount of anxiety and fear. It's not something most managers have practiced, and some just feel bad about it. In fact, the way you think about firing someone affects how you'll do it. So you'll wanna approach it with a three-part overriding philosophy. Part one: people fire themselves. If they have not fulfilled expectations after multiple attempts to help, as a leader you're obligated to respond to that. Part two: in most cases it's the best thing for them. They can move on to find work that matches their willingness and capabilities and have the opportunity to go to work happier.
