Adding photos from your mobile camera roll

- [Instructor] To use Lightroom on mobile to edit, organize, and share photos, you first have to add those photos to the app. There's more than one way to add photos to Lightroom on a mobile device as we'll see in this chapter. The way you'll do it most often is to add them from the camera roll, which is what you'll learn to do in this movie. Here on my iPad in album view, I'll start by choosing a place for the photos that I'm adding. You could tap an album that you've made in the albums panel, but I just want these photos in the premade all photos album, the album that displays all the photos that you've added to Lightroom. So I'll tap All Photos. There are two ways to open the camera roll from Lightroom. You could go up to the three dot menu at the time top right, and then Add Photos, and then From Camera Roll. But the way you usually do it is to go to the blue button at the bottom of the screen and tap the left side of that button, the side with the picture icon. That opens the camera roll directly on my iPad with the photos that I've shot with the device camera. To select which of these photos to add to Lightroom, I'll tap the three dots menu, and I'll choose Select. Then I'll swipe across these photos of the dogs to select them. Or you can just tap non-adjacent photos here. Then I'll tap the blue Add Photos button at the bottom of the screen. The camera roll closes and a copy of each of those photos has been added to Lightroom where you can tap any one of them to edit it, to rate it, to review it, or to share it. I'll tap the back button to go back to the album view. Those added photos are now syncing up to the Adobe cloud. And they'll also be available in Lightroom and all my other devices. By the way, Lightroom on mobile supports JPEGs, PNGs, and Adobe DNG raw image format. If you have a creative cloud plan, you can also import an edit raw files from a regular camera. On an iOS device, that's done through the camera roll using a memory card to lightening adapter with your device. Now, one more thing, if you want to automatically add to Lightroom every photo that you shoot with your device camera, you can set that up in the Lightroom mobile settings. I'll tap the three dot menu at the top right, I'll tap Settings, and I'll tap Import. And here under auto add from camera roll, I could enable the photo switch. But I'm not going to do that because I really don't want to have that many extra photos in Lightroom. I just like to bring in my best. So that's how to bring into Lightroom on mobile photos from other cameras. You can also shoot raw and JPEG photos directly into Lightroom from the full feature camera that's built into Lightroom, which we're going to discover in the next movie.
