Converting color photos to black and white

- [Instructor] In this course, you've seen a couple of different ways to convert a color photo to black and white. It can be done with profiles or with presets or, as I'll show you in this lesson, you can make your own customized black and white by adjusting the luminance of every color as it looks in a black and white version of the image. To show you what I mean, I'm going to open a colorful photo of an Italian flag. Before I covert this to black and white, I'd like to make sure that the tones in the image are optimized because you usually get a better black and white from a well-optimized color photo. I can start that process by just tapping auto at the top of the edit column. And if I want to tweak that, I could open the light panel to access the tonal sliders. Maybe I'll make this photo brighter by dragging exposure to the right, and maybe I'll add a little contrast by darkening the blacks a little bit. So let's…
